So Ready For Baseball Season

I am so glad that the Superbowl is over...now we can move on to more important things...like baseball! Here Luke is breaking in his cubbies gear for the 2010 season. I personally am wondering when my baby grew up? Am I a broken record or what? I guess I better get used to it. That's why I had another one right?

Yep, he already looks "too cool" for mom!

Ladies watch out! Colts blue, Cubbies blue, it doesn't matter...get this kid in blue!

The Superbowl 2010

Luke looks good in Colts blue.

Of course the is a Colts sleeper for Micah...Micah has so many clothes!

We thought that Luke wanted to hold Micah in his Colts chair...as you can see from his expression that he had something else in mind!

He has a mind of his own for sure!

So maybe next year?

Easy Doughnut Recipe

This is not the most healthful recipe ever...I am sure that if you made the dough yourself etc. but then it becomes labor intensive.
This way is totally easy!

Ingredients:

oil for deep frying
2 cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (I used the Kroger brand whole wheat biscuits)

Heat oil in a deep fryer of heavy saucepan to 375 degrees.

Separate each biscuit and cut a hole in the center (I used a small cookie cutter) Drop biscuits and holes into the hot oil for 1 - 1 1/2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towel.

Dip top of each doughnut into desired glaze. Serve warm.

Vanilla Glaze
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2-3 teaspoons milk

Chocolate glaze
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 T. unsweetened cocoa
1 T. melted butter
2-3 t. milk

Citrus Glaze
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 t. grated lemon or orange peel
2-3 t. lemon or orange juice

Please make these...I beg you!

2 Weeks Old

Baby Micah had his 2 week Dr's appointment yesterday which, by the way, was also his due date. I just love that! He checked out great! His umbilical cord has fallen off and so now he can have an official immersion bath. His bilirubin count is down as well. As you can see he is much less yellow and much more pink. He is fattening up too! I can't wait for those thighs to chunk up. His current stats are as follows:

Weight: 8 lbs. 10 oz. (that's a 1 lb. 2 oz. weight gain in one week!)
Height: 21 1/4"
Head circumference: 34 1/2 cm

Keep growing little Mikey!

Mini snowman

We had another good snow yesterday - this time it was the wet, good-for-packing snow. This morning before I had to go to class, Luke and I went out to shovel and we ended up making a snowman. Our snowman did not get very tall, however, so it is more like a mini-snowman!

We managed to find sticks for arms and a carrot for the nose, and Grandma Fishbaugh found a scarf and hat for us to use, but we could not find any rocks for the eyes because everything was covered with snow! We had to improvise, so we used some tea lights that I found lying around (I think that they were left over from our Halloween pumpkins!). As you can see, our mini-snowman might be an alien.

the finishing touches

Micah decided to watch from inside where it was warm!

A Big Brother is Born

We have been warning Luke about a new baby named "Micah" throughout the pregnancy. He has associated Micah and me (mom) as the same person. We did not know how he would react when he realized that we are not the same person but 2 separate people. Also, because of the flu outbreaks and H1N1 little siblings have not been allowed in the hospital to visit the new additions. Luckily the ban, that has been there since October, was lifted the day before Micah was born! Is that not the coolest thing? So Luke got to come to the hospital and visit momma and Micah. He even got a "Big Brother" sticker to wear! When he came into my hospital room I could tell that he was older. Why does that happen so quickly? It had only been about 12 hours since I had seen him last!

Here is new big brother Luke eating his packed lunch from home at the hospital.

Luke met Micah and immediately wanted to hold him! He already knew that babies need to be held.

He is a sweet big brother and has shown much interest in his little brother.

Micah has no idea what fun these two will hopefully have in the years to come. I am giddy with excitement about it!

Grandma and Grandpa Wagler brought Luke his very own special turtle cookie!!!!!!

What a special guy?! And seriously, why does he seem suddenly so old and grown up??

Sanibel and Luke welcoming Micah home.

He really wants to hold Micah and take care of him. If Micah cries, Luke gets on the mission of getting him a "hankie" to wipe his tears! I think that Luke is going to be my special good helper!

Luke and Grandma Fishbaugh entertain Micah.

I thought that Luke might be concerned to see me in a hospital bed but no worries. He wanted to share his goldfish crackers with me! They never tasted so good!!!!!!!!!!!!
