A Passage of Time?

All that's changed is our hairstyles? Or maybe our age?

Mad Ants Basketball Game

Phil has a networking event at the Coliseum every month and it concludes with a seat at the Mad Ants game. This usually brings him home pretty late so last night we met him at the game. Phil got us tickets from the firm so that we could all go!

Boys. One particular boy a little overdressed!

And there is the Mad Ant mascot or like Luke says the "Bad Ant" He kept both eyes on him the entire game.

Chris Kramer (former Purdue player) and Rod Wilmont (former IU player) are on our team!

There is that "Bad Ant" again. It is unclear whether Luke understands that a basketball game is about basketball or a giant muscular insect high fiving fans and stealing the cheerleaders pom poms?

Micah's first basketball game. Does he like it?

No.

Bummer.

Update:

For the record Luke has been playing "basketball" game all morning. I was putting Micah down for his morning nap and I could hear Luke in his room saying "Larry Bird, Larry Birrrrrd where are you?" Then he came and found me and said: "Mommy, I have a problem. Larry Bird is missing." As it turns out he was playing basketball game in his closet because his dirty clothes hamper is a basketball hoop. And Larry Bird really WAS missing because he got in a fight with Micheal Jordan and he was later located beneath Luke's shoe rack! Phew. And just in case you were wondering, I actually did have to pay for a ticket to get into the game and save Larry Bird. Lots going on here today!

First Day of Spring

Luke keeps saying, "I'm so glad for the Spring mommy so Micah doesn't have to wear those plastic bags anymore."

Me too!

The "Little Playground"

Snacks at the little playground.

And drinks.
Apparently Parkview Park is closed??!!! So we went to the "little playground" at the Island Club apartments. Remember when we lived there?

We're back!

For an hour.

Playground songs. Do you know this one?

Micah can slide all on his own!

Our First House

Before law school, kids, and many moves ago we had the most adorable house. I stumbled onto these recently while looking for photos for another blog that I have been working on.

Welcome to:

740 Indiana Ave.

Isn't it darling?

It was 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and we thought we were really living having moved from a one bedroom apartment. The main living space was about 640 square feet and it had a full finished basement. And the yard! We mowed that yard with a push reel mower. That was a lot of work but we got our exercise!

Here it is in the spring! So cheery.

Here is the back in the fall. It had a wonderful deck! We grilled out almost everyday and ate outside in the summer and listened to the little league baseball games and cheer leading camp at the park across the street!

It had dusty rose carpet that we pulled out before moving in.

Once the carpet was gone we pulled up the tack strips.

Tim helped!

And then we sanded the floors ourselves. Here is Phil's brother Rob.

Phil on the sander.

I helped out after work in my fancy clothes!

We were figuring it out as we went.

Newlyweds and homeowners. We look so young!

Mom helped paint and clean.

We cleaned everything.

And painted everything!

Many times I wish that I could move back to this house but we have outgrown it and it is in Mishawaka. That's probably a good thing because if I was closer I would find myself driving by maybe a little too often.

Moving is so chaotic! It is hard to believe that we have moved 5+ times since this. It humors me that I am wearing my work clothes in so many of these photos. Working outside of the home used to be my normal life!

Angie and Anthropologie

I had the pleasure of meeting up with my dear friend Angie home from Egypt! I had to post this for posterity and I LOVE my pregnant friend and her belly due at the end of April. I predict "girl" by the way she was glowing. So we will see what happens! We did very "American" things: lunch at The Cheesecake Factory and mall shopping! It was seriously so amazing to see her in person. I had to keep pinching myself. You know that warm fuzzy familiar feeling you get when you hear a special person's voice? As soon as we saw each other it was like no time had passed except she was pregnant and I was pushing a baby in a stroller! We had not seen each other in a very long time. I could keep gushing but I will spare you... Anyways it was a sweet reunion.

I saw these newspaper print decoupaged animal heads at Anthropologie and loved them! I have been wanting to try making one of these and the newspaper print seems genius to me. Oh, and don't worry, I already know that I am weird. But I feel compelled to try it.

So creative!

Never Never Never Land

The Ft. Wayne Botanical Gardens has a Peter Pan exhibit going on until April 10th.

How convenient for Luke! There is a pirate ship on display and it is prime for playing complete with gang plank, slide, sails, flag, map and steering wheel. There are two teepees, a playhouse for the lost boys, and Tinkerbell's house! All your imagination could ever ask for and more.

It was so nice to find a fun and new play area indoors!

A pirate in the belly of the ship.

Micah and I looking reflective!

We call him "Cubby"

The rain-forest was hot and humid but we did see a real live chocolate tree...

...and cacti in the desert.

Isn't this totally fun?

If you are local, you should try it.

"Yo Ho"

Micah had a whole snack trap full of snacks.

Lost boys LOVE snacks!

We Wanna Be Pirates

Phil transformed a vacuum box into a pirate ship. And he doesn't think he is creative?

Ahoy!

Luke's current obsession is pirates. Specifically Captain Hook and Smee. He lays in bed late at night worrying about whether Smee is good or bad?

Micah just goes with the flow.

Micah is a lost boy. We call him "Cubby." Incidentally, he looks just like Disneys' version of Cubby.

Umm, nice pants Phil?

And now a shot of what our living room looks like after a day of play.

So I thought, "We'll make something fun and then throw it away." And now it is a permanent fixture in the living room. Go figure. Use it up wear it out right? Even trash.

He is having fun!

And then I realize: this is not a box it's a REAL pirate ship!
