This past weekend was the Kelley Experience Weekend for the potential incoming MBA's and their families. It starts on Friday evening with a cocktail hour and ends Saturday evening with a dinner and reception. I was involved this year as a member of the Partners Club which is an organization for the partners of Kelley MBA students. What a fabulous weekend!!!!
Saturday morning started early at 7:45am with breakfast and Dean Smith was the welcoming speaker. I was having a wonderful talking with potential partners and getting to know new people. I was telling a girl that I am from the Ft. Wayne area originally and all of a sudden a girl turned around that was in line getting breakfast and said "Allison?" I looked at her and my jaw literally dropped to the floor. It was an old friend of mine from High School and youth group!!!! We were both so shocked to see each other!! Immediately we were talking am mile a minute trying to catch up on lost time. I don't think that we have seen each other for close to six years!
She was her as a potential partner as her husband is considering the Kelley MBA program to start in the fall. What a blessing! I have been praying so much for next year. We are going to be in Bloomington another two years when most of our friends that we have made while here are going to be graduating in one year. When I think about it I get very worried that we will be all alone here for a whole year and I have been dreading it. This is an area of my life that I have been bathing in prayer! I have been praying that we will be able to make more friends that are in a similar situation in life.
This is why it was such an encouragement for me to see this long time friend this weekend. Although I have no idea if her and her husband will be making the move to Bloomington, it has given me hope! It is sometimes hard for me to know if God is talking to me. I feel like seeing this friend is a sign from God that this is an area of my life that God has taken care of already. I have no need to worry because he knows the plans for our future. I need to trust Him completely, even in the area of good friendships. God knows that we need others to come along side us and share life with.
I am content in knowing that God is providing for us. It does not even matter if this friend moves to Bloomington or not. I feel like seeing her was the breath of fresh air that I needed to know that God is in control and I am not. This is also something that I pray: "Less of me and more of You." What an encouragement!
We have been so blessed in life with wonderful friends; old and new!!!!!!!!!! We are very thankful for the relationships that come into and out of our lives on a regular basis. I believe that everything happens for a reason and I LOVE trying to figure out what that is! Blessings to all of our friends and family!
